What to Expect During SPRAVATO® Treatment

Understanding Your Treatment Journey

Discover the comprehensive process of SPRAVATO® (esketamine) nasal spray therapy, a prescription treatment for adults with treatment-resistant depression. Here’s what to expect as you embark on this innovative path to mental wellness.

  • Initial Consultation Your First Step

During your initial visit to our certified SPRAVATO® treatment center, a healthcare provider will discuss your medical history, check your insurance, and create a personalized treatment plan.

  • Starting Your Treatment First Treatment Day

On your treatment days, you'll self-administer SPRAVATO® nasal spray under the supervision of a healthcare provider to ensure proper usage and monitor for immediate side effects.

  • Observation Period Post-Treatment Monitoring

After taking SPRAVATO®, you'll be observed for at least two hours to monitor for potential side effects such as temporary increases in blood pressure.

  • Common Side Effects What to Watch For

You may experience mild side effects like dizziness, nausea, or feeling drunk, which typically resolve the same day. Your healthcare provider will guide you through managing these effects.

  • Treatment Schedule Ongoing Sessions

SPRAVATO® is usually administered twice a week for the first month, then once a week or every two weeks thereafter, depending on your response to the treatment.

  • Post-Treatment Care Planning Ahead

Remember, you won't be able to drive or operate machinery until the next day after a restful sleep, so plan for transportation on your treatment days.
